Spaceti & Danish pension fund PFA in new innovative partnership

Proptech company Spaceti and Danish pension fund PFA in an innovative partnership to provide healthy flexible workspaces. We explore how PFA works to increase the efficiency of office usage and improve the workplace experience for employees with Spaceti.

New office concept - The Union

Last year, the largest private Danish pension fund, PFA, introduced a new and innovative multi-tenant office concept - The Union. The flexible concept will accommodate everything from large corporate offices to co-working areas with one-person seatings. The aim is to create a healthy, sustainable, and super flexible workspace solution for all sizes of companies where community, networking, and wellbeing are at the core. Finally, The Union will have a modern digital infrastructure that makes everything from room and desk booking to accessing social events and networking and ordering healthy take-home meals as easy as possible for all users and tenants.

Behind The Union’s hyper-flexible concept and innovative digital approach lies an unconventional and explorative partnership with the proptech company Spaceti - one of Europe’s leading providers of digital space management and workplace experience solutions.

Digitising PFA’s headquarter together step by step

The partnership between Spaceti and PFA developed back in 2019, when PFA started exploring the potentials of proptech for creating modern workspaces. As a starting point, PFA was looking for solutions to improve the management and operations of their own headquarter in Copenhagen. After an international pitch competition, Spaceti was chosen to equip PFA’s headquarter 24,000m2 with 2000+ occupancy and environmental sensors.

Soon Spaceti’s sensors and dashboards proved valuable to PFA as they could now analyse anonymized data about usage of space, energy consumption, and indoor climate. This helped PFA optimize the workspace environment in order to increase employee productivity and wellbeing. The sensors were also extremely useful during the COVID pandemic when office occupancy levels decreased. PFA managed to achieve quite significant energy savings for unutilized parts of the building.

Working with Spaceti has given PFA insights and inspirations to continue their journey in providing modern, convenient, and flexible workplace experiences for its employees. As a next step, PFA now plans to implement a fully-fledged booking system through Spaceti to increase the efficiency of office usage and improve the workplace experience for employees. Employees will be able to reserve workstations, meeting and conference rooms, parking lots, lockers, and to track indoor climate performance.

Scaling the flexible and digital workplace experience to all of Denmark

The collaboration between PFA and Spaceti has kept evolving. With the many learnings that PFA got from the collaboration with Spaceti they will now scale to their entire Danish office portfolio in a new multi-tenant office concept called The Union. Spaceti will provide the digital infrastructure for the Union securing the needed digital backbone to provide a modern, healthy and flexible workspace concept:

“Collaborating with Spaceti on digitising our own headquarter has been really inspiring and insightful for us. It is these learnings we will now implement and scale as we roll out our new multi-tenant office concept - The Union in the coming years. The digital infrastructure that Spaceti will provide for the Union is an important pillar in creating a modern, flexible and healthy workplace experience”

-  Mikael Fogemann, Head of Nordic Real Estate, PFA

And Spaceti’s Vasyl Bulyna add’s:

“We were impressed by the forward-looking approach of the PFA leadership team, firstly taking care of their own employees by providing a great workplace experience and then leveraging the gained knowledge to constantly give feedback and co-create with Spaceti the best solutions for their tenant’s satisfaction. ”

-  Vasyl Bulyna, Chief Business Officer, Spaceti

In total, around 20 office buildings across Denmark will be turned into The Union during the coming years.
