Meet one of our new lab tenants - Wicomico

Even though it’s only been a little more than a month since we opened our PropTech LAB in Bloxhub the lab is very much coming alive. Tenants have been moving in from the very opening and the space is beginning to fill up. Most importantly, we already now see the dynamics of having a dedicated proptech lab. Tenants are good at using each other to spare and share experiences and ‘real estate knowledge’ and have also been able to expand their real estate network and getting leads due to the informal networking possibilities at our events.

We have talked to one of our first lab tenants Martin Elneff from Wicomico, who has been quite excited about moving into the lab. Wicomico is an app at the intersection of space-as-a-service and the growing co-living market. The app offers modules for easy tenant communication, event planning, facility and room bookings, facility management and service subscriptions.

Prior to founding Wicomico, Martin was partner in ‘Interaktiv Borgerguide’ which is the most widely used assisted living platform in Denmark. Clients are however mostly public bodies and authorities, whereas Wicomico is a consumer and enterprise targeted platform. Martin and his co-founding partner Jesper Karlberg therefore needed to fuel their knowledge about and network within the real estate sector if they by any chance should be able to scale Wicomico.

Moving into the PropTech LAB has been fantastic. Though I only been in the lab for a short time, I must say that it has already given the development of Wicomico a giant boost.
— Martin Elneff, founder, Wicomico

“I do not have a background in real estate so my knowledge about the sector was practically non-existence before I moved into the lab. By talking with my peers in the lab, following the newsletter and by participating in workshops and social events I have in short time expanded my knowledge on how the real estate sector works, it’s value chain and who the relevant stakeholders and persons are for me and Wicomico.

“Participation in lab event has also given me some unique opportunities for networking with relevant future clients and collaboration partners. The informal settings around the events makes it a lot easier to meet and get to talk to the relevant decision makers. Moving into the PropTech LAB has been fantastic. Though I only been in the lab for a short time, I must say that it has already given the development of Wicomico a giant boost. All in all, I think that being part of the lab has speeded up the development of Wicomico with a factor 10.

Finally, I will emphasize the very nice facilities in the lab. The Blox building offers a primary office environment both regarding aesthetics, design and functionality. And with it’s central location it is also a prime place to invite clients, partners and investors for meetings.”
